Your questions

Frequently asked questions

What companies ask most before starting. If your question is not here, talk to a specialist.

Contract and implementation

Does implementation require construction work or stopping the operation?

No. Implementation involves no construction work and does not interrupt the site’s routine.

Is there a cancellation penalty?

The penalty is pro rata, in proportion to the savings SEA has already generated: if there has been no result yet, the penalty is zero.

What kind of company does T&D serve?

Medium and large water consumers: hospitals, retail chains, manufacturers, educational institutions, hotels and shopping centres.

Which cities does T&D cover?

Coverage is nationwide, with our own presence in 14 locations. The full list is on the Where we operate page.

Savings and results

How much can be saved on the water bill?

It depends. SEA 360º can cut water spending by up to 70%. TDRR remote monitoring on its own delivers an average 10% reduction, by spotting leaks and faults early.

How far does water consumption fall with T&D Sustentável?

In the operation with figures audited by a third party, Rede D’Or, in a GRI report, the reduction was 16.5%, with 260k m³ saved across 40 hospitals. Remote monitoring on its own delivers an average reduction of around 10%, and the full SEA 360º programme reaches 70% at operations with greater potential. The outcome of each operation depends on what the measurement finds there.

How does T&D prove the savings?

Through the international IPMVP protocol. The baseline is built from the site’s consumption history and adjusted by multivariate regression, which makes the result auditable.

Technology and monitoring

What is corporate water management?

It is the continuous control of how water is consumed in an operation: metering, identifying losses and taking action to keep consumption efficient. At T&D, this control is done with telemetry and data analysis.

How does telemetry help reduce water consumption?

It transmits readings in real time, so leaks and deviations show up straight away, and not only on the following month’s bill.

How does remote monitoring work?

TDRR follows consumption in real time and raises an alert when a leak or an equipment fault appears before the bill arrives.

Solutions

Which solution is right for my company?

It depends on the consumption profile and the type of operation. The initial assessment points to the most suitable combination.

Can the solutions be combined?

Yes. SEA 360º and TDRR, for example, are often contracted together, as a bundle.

Water management maturity assessment

What is the water management maturity assessment?

It is a free online assessment with ten questions about your operation. At the end, you get a score by area and the priorities for each gap. It takes about three minutes.

How do I know how much water my company wastes?

Add up 12 months of billed volume, average the three lowest-consumption months (the baseline) and compare it with the rest. Then shut the operation down for two hours and read the meter at the start and at the end: if the number moved with nobody using water, there is a leak. The excess over the baseline is what is at stake.

Is the water assessment free?

Yes. It does require registration: your name, e-mail and WhatsApp are recorded as you answer, even if you stop halfway. The score, the breakdown by area and the recommendations appear on screen at the end of the questionnaire.

Does the assessment result estimate how much I will save?

No, and deliberately so. The score measures water management maturity, how much the operation can see of its own water. Savings potential depends on what measurement finds in the operation, and no questionnaire replaces that.

Water losses in Brazil (industry data)

What is the water loss rate in Brazil?

Brazil lost 39.53% of its treated water in distribution in 2024, according to Instituto Trata Brasil, based on SINISA (base year 2024) from the Ministry of Cities. These are losses to leaks, metering errors and unauthorised use, occurring before the water reaches the consumer’s meter.

Which Brazilian state loses the most treated water?

Alagoas, at 66.9% of distribution losses in 2024. At the other end, Piauí records 24.61% and is the only state already within the legal limit. In all, 16 states lose more than 40%.

What is the legal target for reducing water losses?

Portaria MCID nº 788, de 1º de agosto de 2024, sets three distribution loss ceilings: 35% through 2025, 30% between 2026 and 2032 and 25% from 2033 onwards. It revoked and replaced Portaria nº 490, of 22 March 2021, and applies to municipalities benefiting from federal public funds or financing with Union resources.

Is distribution loss the same as waste inside the company?

No. Distribution loss happens on the utility’s network, before the meter, and makes water more expensive for everyone through the tariff. Internal waste happens after the meter (undetected leaks, equipment out of adjustment, consumption with no known origin) and lands in full on the company’s bill. It is this second one that T&D measures and reduces.

Sending your bill

Do I have to pay anything to send the bill?

No. The bill analysis is free and creates no obligation. What you do with what comes back is up to you.

How long until I hear back?

A water management specialist takes on the analysis as soon as the bill arrives and gets back to you on whichever channel you prefer: e-mail, phone or WhatsApp.

Does a photo taken with a phone work?

It does, as long as the figures are readable. We accept PDF, JPG, PNG and WEBP, up to 25 MB per file.

My bill has company data on it. What do you do with it?

The bill is used for the analysis you asked for and nothing else. The data is handled under the T&D Sustentável Privacy Policy, and you can ask for it to be deleted at any time.

What if I do not have the bill at hand right now?

The analysis is only about your operation if there is a bill to read; without one, what comes back is a market average. If you would rather talk first, use the contact page.

Partner programme

Do I need to know the subject to refer someone?

No. You refer the contact and T&D runs the technical assessment and the negotiation.

How does the referral payment work?

The commission is calculated on the signed contract. The terms are presented during partner registration.

Do I need exclusivity or a sales target?

No. There is no exclusivity, no target and no cost to join the programme.

How do I find out what happened to my referral?

The T&D sales team reports back on every contact you refer and keeps you posted through to the decision.
