The strength of T&D Sustentável lies in the people who measure, fix and track every client’s water. The numbers are large, more than 1.71 billion litres of water saved and a presence in 47 cities across 9 states, according to T&D’s indicator panel, but they are produced by a team guided by five values: self-development, discretionary effort, commitment to results, an owner’s mindset and cooperation.

In short:

  • T&D was founded in 2018, in MacaĂ© (Rio de Janeiro state), and today serves hospitals, retail, industry, schools, hotels, shopping centres and residential complexes.
  • The company’s indicator panel totals more than 1.71 billion litres of water saved and more than 30,000 people reached by awareness work.
  • Five values guide the team, from self-development to an owner’s mindset.
  • T&D was named NÂş1 Startup in Water and Sanitation in the 100 Open Startups Ranking in 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025.
  • For the client, the culture shows up in three places: in measurement, in repairs and in monthly follow-up.

Who makes T&D Sustentável?

A team that works to the same technical standard in every operation, in 47 cities across 9 states. T&D was born in 2018, in Macaé, when two neighbours from the oil and gas industry set out to solve the water consumption of their own residential complex; the method that worked there became a company. Founding partner Camillo Torquato, raised in the semi-arid Northeast of Brazil, treats water scarcity as a personal matter, and that origin still guides the work today.

The full story, from the first contracts to the first units, is in how T&D Sustentável started.

What are T&D’s values?

Five, and each has a practical effect on day-to-day work:

ValueWhat it means in practice
Self-developmentNo one is ever finished: everyone keeps learning and adapting
Discretionary effortDoing things well for the pleasure of doing them well, even when no one is watching
Commitment to resultsTaking responsibility beyond your own remit, with clear communication and a sense of urgency
Owner’s mindsetLooking after the company with attention to detail, care with resources and a long-term view
CooperationRespect, transparency and the team above any individual achievement

According to T&D itself, reflecting on behaviour and decisions is a frequent practice in the team, because each person’s growth is what sustains the team’s strength, and consistent service for the client comes from coherence between what is said and what is done inside the company.

How does the culture show up in client results?

At three moments in the operation:

  1. In measurement. Savings that cannot be proven do not count, so every project starts with a consumption baseline, under the international IPMVP protocol.
  2. In repairs. A leak that is found has to be fixed and checked against consumption: electronic leak detection and repairs are part of the same service.
  3. In follow-up. Ongoing management delivers monthly efficiency and ESG impact reports, showing what changed in consumption and what can still improve.

The most visible result of this work is in a client’s sustainability report: in the Rede D’Or case, the water efficiency project cut consumption by 16.5% in 40 hospitals, as shown in the Rede D’Or case.

What has the team delivered?

The figures from the indicator panel T&D publishes on its website, in October 2026:

IndicatorCumulative total
Water savedMore than 1.71 billion litres
Effluent no longer generatedMore than 1.3 billion litres
COâ‚‚ avoidedMore than 3,400 tonnes
Presence47 cities in 9 states
People reached by awareness workMore than 30,000

The year-by-year detail is in T&D’s impact in numbers, and the awards in awards and recognition, 2021 and 2022.

The team’s work reaches the client through SEA 360º, which handles implementation, without building works, with a baseline under the IPMVP protocol, efficiency technology at points of use, electronic leak detection and repairs, and continues with ongoing management, with monthly efficiency and ESG impact reports.
